  • I've seen that many, many, times; and I do think it's completely inappropriate. To me, it's a sign that whoever says that has no concept of what being a mother really means. They just see all kids as "kids" - regardless of whose kids they are, so they lump their own kids and their boyfriend's kids into "our kids" - and act as if the child's mother is a thing of the past or out of the picture. Mature mothers who have a normal, bonded, respectful, relationship with their own children wouldn't say that about any boyfriend's kids' mother.
