oooh... it is always to do with taboo words for sex or body parts in English I think ... in other cultures eg Italy it tends to be blasphemy related eg porco dio, porca madonna ... or relating to being a cuckold (cornuto) or impugning the honour of someone's mother! The taboo words havent changed much over the centuries eg our anglo-saxon F and C words ... and in french the equivalent foutre and con ... although the rest of the language has evolved tremendously. Another interesting thing I think is that in the west of scotland the C word isnt necessarily derogatory eg "He's a fit cunt for a fat cunt" or "He's an alright cunt" LOL! Takes a bit of getting used to but now it simply trips off my tongue!

Sometimes it's context. You're cursing if you call your sister a bitch, but you're not if you're talking about your dog.
