I used to but most things in layaway when my kids were younger.

I have. I used layaway for expensive items when I was in my 20's. Now I wish I had applied for and used a credit card. That would have established my credit. Both of my teens have credit cards for just that reason. So far, so good........ lol

I have used layaway in the past when purchasing jewelry. In hindsight, it was probably better to live within my means and not use layaway. Again, using a credit card establishes credit, however, you have to pay down the balance or face penalties.
