  • There should be a plug on or near the pump. The pump should be the lowest point on the plumbing - remove or open the plug and all remaining water in the plumbing should drain out. However you should not need to drain a hot-tub or a pool. The only time you would do that is if it has been seriously contaminated or has been left unfiltred untreated for a long time. In that case you would drain out as much water as possible, by draining the tub portion, refill the tub and use say algaecide and shock and other pool/spa chemicals to balance the water running the filter and the jets continuously for at least 24 hours to make certain that the chemicals reached every nook and cranny in the plumbing. You will NOT get the system sterile - sorry even the water you put in it will have bacteria, algae spores and lots of other interesting contaminates. Even with the addition of normal pool/spa chemicals the water and the spa will not be 100% sterile. It will be safe from the dangerous bacteria and stuff.
