When Senator Obama talked to Joe the liar, the Senator did not know all this was a lie and that he had been send as bait, to crown it he is an unregistered plummer but I still don't believe him because according to the union he has never worked as a plummer so I will just say he is a liar.

The question put to Obama was about buying a plumbing business. Even if Joe the Plumber has no license and is nowhere near being able to buy a plumbing business Obama's answer is relevant. A small business can easily bring in $250,000 per year. The plumbing service I use is owned by a local man and he has 4 crews. He employs people, and they make a good living for their families. Obama's socialistic views of redistributing wealth based on the government arbitrary determination is the exact opposite of what America was founded upon, and what made it great. His additional taxation on "the rich" will lead to many of those small businesses having to downsize, and people such as plumbers lose their job, or those taxes prevent the owner from expanding and creating jobs. It's scary to think how far down the road to socialism the U.S. is. Socialism has failed time and again.

Have you ever hired a plumber? evidently not. Their work is dirty and hard. they are worth every penny they earn. Next time your toilet floods over and fills your house with poop, how much would you pay that plumber to do the dirty work for you? Any business if run properly can gross $250,000.00 a year, that, in reality is not that much after you pay all of your suppliers, employees, taxes, insurances. vehicle costs, gas, utilities, and the list goes on and on. if you even paid attention to your own personal household budget, you might understand. When Joe the Plumber pay's all his costs, he hopefully will personally take home 60 to 80 thousand a year to support his family.

It's amazing how many here jumped on the "defend the plumber" band wagon. I don't know of ANY plumber racking in that kind of cash and I've been in construction all my life. ONLY the owner of a company could do that and if he's the owner he ain't out there plumbing (his hired help) is doing the dirty work and they're making $30,000 a year more or less. * Besides most here missed the point. I'll spell it out to ya'...McCain is out of touch with reality! He thinks middle class is 2 million a year and he can't even tell you how many house's he owns! (I bet YOU know how many homes YOU own)?!

what makes a plumber "unregistered"? When I lived in Iowa, my boyfriend's dad owned a plumbing business, and he raked in that much... but I'm guessing that's "registered".

In McCain world: ---Plumbers make $250k ---The "surge" worked ---A woman's health is used as an "excuse" for an abortion. ---We can drill our way out of our foreign oil dependence. ---A woman who spent two years governing a resource welfare state (i.e. taxing oil production pays for all government services) with a population 1/3 of that of the San Fernando Valley is qualified to be Leader of the Free World. ---People are not "rich" until they're making $5 million per year. ---ACORN turning in bogus voter registrations (as required by law) is a 'fundamental threat to democracy'. ---McCain knows how to "get Bin Laden", yet somehow he is justified in not sharing this knowledge with the current administration. ---etc., etc., etc. "Joe the Plumber" is just the latest McGuffin thrown up by the GOP to distract people from the fact that their policy positions are the same disastrous ones we've had for the past 8 years (or 28 if you start with Reagan). . .

Unregistered plumbers can make $250G. IT just depends on who are the client's and geographic locations. Look at the dif. in housing cost. A $100G house in Mississippi or Alabama might cost a million in Hawai or places in California. In certain places they charge $150 per house call. Thats $600 for 4 jobs per day. How much does anyone think the plumber CHARGED senater Obama last time he called one in his UPSCALE subdivision $200 $300 for one service call. How many service calls can one make per day.

Well one truck driver who owns his own truck makes over 250,000 easily, and a plumber can make twice as much as a truck driver if he owns his own plumbing business. I think that is what Joe the plumber was referring to. His wishes were to purchase the business he was employed with, and then he potential to make such earnings are very possible. BTW, having the privilege of owning my own truck, yes I made well over 250,000 dollars, and after expenses and TAXES, I brought home between 75,000 to 85,000 dollars.

McCain talked a lot about 'Joe the plumber' during the third presidential debate, saying Joe is an example of a small business owner who would not do well under Barack Obama's policies…But generally, Obama does not fine 'small businesses.' They are specifically exempt. Its Companys like wal-mart who would get fined, who dont give their employee's healthcare, but rather tell them to go get government funded healthcare (medicaid) that cost us tax payers billions each year. Not important is the fact that Joe The Plumber makes 40,000 a year, cant afford to buy the business McCain mentioned, and that business that joe can't afford makes $100,000 a year, not over $250,000. So all of Obamas tax plans would Help joe The plumber in every sense. (As a individual or as a small business owner)

Why can't a plumber earn a quarter of a million dollars a year. A couple of landscapers here in my neighborhood do and they don't have a licenses. The owner just has a excellent ability to sell his good work.
