  • This is NOT a professional or medical opinion. I have read that niacin can cause a sensation of heat or prickly heat and can cause a person's face to flush red. It's not really an allergic reaction per se. It's a way that your body is saying you've overdosed. It's somewhat safe, but very irritating. I'd read the ingredient labels of your drinks more carefully if I were you. swabby
  • I was actually taking 500mgs of Niacin a day for high Cholesterol. It got to the point I had to stop. I could take my face becoming red, and flushed, but the itching, burning, and swelling got to be too much, so my doctor said to stop it. HORRIBLE side effects, for a great Vitamin..:(
  • I took about 55mg of niacin and I had the worst stomach pains in my life. I almost passed out several times and I threw up everything, not to mention the other way as well. My face and neck did flush, but that wasn't the problem. I think eating foods with niacin is a better idea...
