How old are the kids? Is it pre-school, primary, junior or secondary age? Edit: (i'm not sure what highschool age is 12-16?) What about having a 'spud day', Everyone gets to come in their own clothes but has to bring a pound ( I appreciate this may not apply as you might not have to wear uniform, if this is the case, do a fancy dress day.) This is the main way we fundraise in english schools. Some form of seasonal bazaar (too late for christmas now but try easter or summer) You could have music, arranged acivities (like throw a sponge at a teacher) Food and drinks. This might be a little childish for the older years, you could adapt it. (i'm not sure what age highschool is) Have a disco for the youngest years. Hold it in the school hall, have sweets and drinks for sale. And charge a couple of dollars for the tickets. On valentines day send secret flowers, Go into tutor rooms and have people order a flower (carnations are good, white for friendships, pink for crush, red for love) and pay ahead of time. A few days before the 14th give out mini plain colour matched to the flowers cards and envelopes. People can write the messages then put the name + tutor group on the envolope. Someone then collects in all the envolopes, sticks them to the right colour flower and delivers them to the tutor groups. Fun photographs, arrange a date + time and advertise it in the school. Buy (or see if you can have donated) ome fun props or 'period' costumes. People come along, dress up, have their photograph taken then you can sell them (put them in a card display thing like at theme parks) Best if you get people to book a time and pay ahead. This is probably the hardest to do, and depends on the facilities of the school (is their a keen photographer that could do the photograhing?)

We have an annual "Taster's Choice". There is no cost involved as the money all comes from the celebrity chefs. We send out letters to 100 members of our community (mayor, police chief, sheriff, ministers, restaurant owners, etc.) and ask them to participate. The chefs are asked to prepare one dish each (salad, main dish, drink or dessert) that can feed one spoonful to approximately 300 people. Also the chefs are required to buy 10 tickets which cost $10.00 each in order to be allowed to participate. (We usually only take the first 30 who respond so we have a profit of $3,000 almost immediately.) We state in our letter that this is a great way for the "chefs" to meet members of the community and to further advance their platforms. We present awards for best food in each category and for the best decorated table. The first chefs to respond get to pick the location of their tables. We also get celebrity judges. We usually ask someone who is well known in the community. We also place donated items between the tables for a "silent auction" and we announce the highest bidders at the end of the evening. We hold the event in our high school. We place the tables in the hall. We have the "taster" eat in the cafeteria. We announce winners in the auditorium. (There is no cost for renting a facility to hold the event.) We made over $6,000 last year. It was an election year and we invited all of the politicians. We fed about 500 people. In the cafeteria we set up a table and tasters voted for their favorite chef. We had several close political races and the money that was donated from votes was over $200. Another idea - sell donuts. Have a Mr. (name of high school) Pageant. Have titles/awards for best tux, best legs and best dressed in sporting outfit. Charge students $5 to attend. Everyone will buy a ticket to get out of class. Have a "hat" day at school. Each student who pays $1 can wear a hat. These a just a few idea. Good luck!
