Corporations don't really pay taxes. When the government levies taxes on them, they just pass it on to their customers. We all pay increased prices on what ever they are selling to cover the corporate taxes. When you hear about increasing the taxes on big business and corporations, they are really raising taxes on their customers. The middle class always gets hit.

Your link states that most (more than half) corporations pay taxes most of the time. Yes, there are tricks that are used to minimize that, but that's just like everyone in America. We all want the biggest refund, or the smallest payment. The laws need to be more direct difficult to circumvent. I honestly believe a sales tax would be much more effective.

The link is quite reveling and a shocking indictment of the current tax system. How can something like that ever happen? What if any other mortal did not pay taxes? Would the IRS harass us to death? How come the IRS never noticed such a fraud, shame on them!!!!

Well if you trust Reuters, it looks like it's true. But i'm sure it applies to multinationals. Small buisinesses purely within US likely do not have the skills in house to do it - and buying them wuold probably not be cost effective

To me it comes down to how close to the two extrems one wants to align themselves. Should all expenses that goverment controls be elimanted with the idea that lower cost will be passed onto the consumer or should a company that has the means to afford untold dollars in factories, land, and other investments be exempt fully or to what degree from taxes. Labor and EPA regualtions are also a major expense. To what point should they be reduced to reduce the final product cost? It's an old cliche but "the devil is in the detail", finding the middle ground is tough. Looks at being civil may not be a walk in the park either. Myself at the very least I belief most companies and us as citzens want the tax code to be simplified. Okay, I'm done

It's tax abatements and incentives for a contracted number of years to come to a given state, county, city, and PROPERTY taxes, that I believe you are talking about. It's also why many companies who have NOT gone to China have not gone, why gas prices are as low as they are, and probably why many of those Americans who still have good-paying jobs still do.
