A lot of people with obsessive compulsive disorder feel compelled to make many lists. It is, I suppose, a 'mental' disorder, but usually people class it as an 'anxiety' disorder. There's more on it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obsessive-compulsive_disorder, but you'd probably have to read around a bit more before you could decide if the problem was in fact an OCD.
