US ARMY: Why is the US Flag inverted on the uniforms of the Soldiers? The stars are in the top right hand corner instead of the usual top left side.

The US flag patch is worn on the right shoulder of the ACU. The field is on the left only when the flag is part of a static display and it is spread open. Since the soldier is always moving, the flag patch set so that the field is to the right, which is how it would be seen if the soldier was carrying the flag on a staff.

Like CannedHam said about it looking like that if carried on a staff, it also symbolizes that we run toward the battle but never retreat or run away.
