  • First of all, I'm sure it was a brief contact -- as long as you washed your hands really well, I'm sure all is fine. Toxoplasmosis comes only from the feces of cats that are infected with that parasite (usually outside cats, as they often get it from eating mice). You get it from ingesting the feces (touching the feces, then touching your mouth, for example). As long as you washed your hands after you were done with the litter box duty, you're going to be fine. If by some strange chance you were to contract toxoplasmosis, there are several things you can take that will rid you of the parasite but not harm your unborn baby.
