You get to sit by the river for hours and contemplate the nature's beauty. Fishing done as a hobby in solitude makes a man a better person.

I personally have only gone fishing once..I was a teenager and it was at a beach in Ventura..a perfect day..we did flycasting into the waves and believe it or not we caught a few fish..which we then released immediately. But to answer your question..I recommend that you see a movie entitled "A River Runs Through It". It's really a guy movie, I think, but I loved it! It is a very small movie and has a rather sad ending (just to warn you)..but there is much in it that is very beautiful and I think you'd enjoy it! :)

You get to inflict unspeakable pain on a living being that has never offended or insulted you before. Some people never thought of that before and think it is fun. This is only my opinion. So don't flag simply because you don't agree. Cheers.

My Dad taught me how to fish. I LOVE it!
Dad taught me how to fish in freshwater. AND I acquired the love of salt water fishing and crabbing.

Salt water fishing and crabbing requires getting up VERY early and driving about 2 to 3 hours to the marina or to the place where we put-in the boat or where we decide we're going to fish and/or crab.

I have the opportunity to see the full beauty of God's magnificent work!
    The smell of the water!
The rising sun and the sky's fabulous colors!
    The rising and falling tides!
Birds in flight as well as those looking for food on and in the water!
Once in a while we hear or see a fish jump!
The breeze or wind on my face!
The excitement and anticipation of catching fish or crabs!
The setting sun and the sky's fabulous colors!
The camaraderie of the person or people I'm with! The conversation AND silence!
    Life, in general!

Fishing gives me (or us - whoever I happen to be going fishing/crabbing with) the opportunity to REALLY contemplate a particular situation/problem which REALLY NEEDS a practical solution.
    There aren't any interruptions:
    No cell phone rings.

No one comes to the door to interrupt the thought process.

As far as alcohol is concerned, we don't bring any. New Jersey, Pennsylvania AND Delaware have laws about having any kind of "open" alcoholic beverages in the boat.

When we get home, we can have AND enjoy all the adult beverages we want.

LIFE IS WONDERFUL! GOD IS GREAT!

Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed answering it!

Well, like some others have said, it's extremely relaxing. I really only like fishing in warm weather, and I'll get together with a buddy and go hit a local fishing hole.

We go out early and watch the fog roll across the lake and enjoy the early morning dampness till it warms up. We sit in the sun and talk, listen to the sounds of a lazy summer day, drink some cold beer and eat fried chicken and potato salad that my wife has cooked up and packed for us.

Lots of times we don't catch anything more than a buzz, but it sure is a good time.

If I do manage to come home with some fresh fish, all the better! :)

Well, thats is a great question! For many it is just relaxation and enjoying nature with the anticipation of never knowing what might happen while out there. For others it is a great challenge to see if certain types of fish can be lured by artificial means rather than with live bait and they get a great deal of satisfaction from knowing they were able to challenge a worthy prey and win! Most who fish for bass in particular do not eat the fish, they almost always practice catch and release.
For others, it is a full time job such as a guide or a tournament angler. This also involves a lot of high speed boating and it is a good deal of fun. This combines all aspects of the sport from the challenge and enjoyment of nature and comradery to being paid high dollars for winning tournaments and promoting sponsors. So, in summary, it is many things to many people, but I feel it is a great sport that gives a good deal of satifaction.

I love fishing! Sitting by the river or on a boat out on the river. So relaxing, like nobody else exists but you and your thoughts. I love the excitement when you pull in a big fish and if nothing's biting I love to sit in my bikini and soak up some rays.

I got fishing on the Oslo Fjord. I go out in a boat and sit there for hours. It is VERY relaxing and, to be completely honest, there is nothing quite like it. Catch a fish, eat it!

Beats me. Now, if the fish had money in their bellies, it truly would be great. They don't though. They just have meat that I can buy at my local Safeway for really cheap.

Actually catching a fish. Which is a rare and unbelievably happy event...for me at least. Actually I suspect most guys like it because it gives them an opportunity to spend time away from home in nature. To get away from it all for a while.

Nothing at all. If I want a fish I go to Safeway. Now, if fish had money in their bellys then that would be a different story.
