  • I was on G.A. while a full-time college student in the mid/late '70's. When my dad occasionally lent me his car for a weekend (he bought a new Cadillac every two years), I'd park it waaay down the street to pick up my swag. The $ definitely helped to defray my significant beer & dope expenses! ;-)
  • i was on welfare for a short period of time. while on welfare i went to school to be in the medical field. while on welfare it seems like i lived better, i had subsidized housing, my schooling and child care expenses were paid for, the hardest thing i had to do was go to school. once i completed school i had to become responsible, i had to budget my money, i no longer recieved food stamps, so i had to actually pay attention to what i purchased. i had to pay full child care and rent. although it seems like life was easier on welfare, i am proud of my accomplishments and appreciative to the tax payers for helping me help myself. now i make a very good living and my kids see me go out and make an honest living for us.
