It's a term used by urban Americans to describe rural people who aren't cool. Mostly used by people who don't know any, because if you ever actually got to know farmers well and worked with them, you would realize that almost all of them are extremely respectworthy. They may be more knowledgeable about more areas than you are, but much of their knowledge is in the skill of their hands. As a punk teenager I also jeered at the guy who "looked like a farmer in a business suit," until I learned that they WERE businessmen and although they worked most of their lives for minimum wage, would often retire as millionaires. Go farmers!
