Global Warming is a sustained trend towards greater average global temperatures. I already have lived to see it proven. What remains to be proven is WHY. I do not think that we have a debate as to whether or not Global Warming exists. Empirical data of historic temperatures shows us that the average temperature of the Earth has increased by approximately 2 degrees Celcius in the last 100 years or so. The polar ice caps are melting. This much we know. http://www.earth-policy.org/Indicators/Temp/2004.htm http://www.grida.no/climate/vital/17.htm The debate is over WHY this has happened. Some say Greenhouse gases are causing the change. A recent core sample of Ice from the polar caps showed that the levels of Carbon Dioxide in our atmosphere have not been at the level they are now in the last 800,000 years. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/5314592.stm Others say it is due to planetary climate cycles. Many theories are in existence to explain Global Warming.
