  • 13 yrs.
  • I don't know about what age you should start, I would like to know at what age I can stop shaving them.
  • I don't know that you "should" shave your legs. This is something that is entirely cultural, and entirely a personal choice. Some women do not remove the hair from their legs at all. I've this on many highly educated American women (JD, MD, PhD, etc). Some women never shave at all, but choose waxing or dipilatories. In other words, the age is highly dependent upon your personal preference. The age at which you feel like you should (if that ever comes) is when you should begin.
  • Only when I went out for the swimming team in high school. It wasn't much fun either!
  • That depends on the person. Some females choose to do it the minute they see hair, others wait. Having dark hair usually means you start sooner, if it bothers you.
  • umm i was in 7th grade
  • I was 11, because that's when I started to be bothered by it. There isn't a right age, it depends on the individual.
  • Never, if you have fine hair on your legs. Wearing nylons will remove the hair without making it come in darker and courser. 13 if you have dark hair and it is bothering you.
  • when there are lots of dark hair and it is noticeable. I started when I was about 11.
  • If it bothers you then start shaving, I would say that starting your period means you are definatly old enough. I however started my periods pretty late, and in p.e class my legs looked sooo hairy compared to the other girls (they wern't even dark hairs, i didn't actually need to start shaving) but i found it embarresing becasue i was different. So I started shaving.
  • Whether or not to shave is definitely a personal decision and many choose not to shave at all. However, so long as a girl is responsible enough to shave without hurting herself I see no reason for her to wait past whatever time she starts feeling self-conscious about her legs. This would probably be earlier for those girls with darker hair, but it also depends on the type of clothing worn, personal interest, and the attitudes of peers. It might be useful to start with an electric razor if the girl is scared of knicking herself. Also, don't be surprised if she shaves frequently at first and then decides that it's not worth the time and trouble.
  • i started shaving when i was in gr.5 because thats when i started dating
  • When you can't stand it anymore? I remember my parents trying to talk me out of it, but I started at 11 because I was a cheerleader and didn't like it showing. When you're ready to start, I say go for the wax (if you can take the discomfort). The more you wax, the less hair you get growing back. Sally Hansen Brazilian formula is the least painful, best smelling, and best working formula I've found.
  • I don't have legs, but I started to shave my pumpkin fuzz at 3 months.
  • Not until I was 15. But I'm light complected
  • Well My i didnt not start tell a few days ago to tell you the truth! and i am 14the hardest part was telling my mom that i wanted to shave she was not ready but i was so she bought me Shaving gel and a razer! So i think the best time to shave is when ever you are ready but make sure you tell your mom so she can tell you how to do it the right and afe way!
  • I think this is very good advice, especially from a 14 year old. My daughter just turned 10 and wants to shave. I think this is entirely too young. However, due to a "friend influence" she is feeling the pressure. Her friends are 11 and 12 and they are shaving so she wants to too. I told her that once you shave you always have to shave. I told her when she shows me armpit hair or she gets her period them she can shave.
  • When you start needing to. As with other milestones in puberty, it varies by the girl. I started when I was on swimteam at about age 13 or 14 by borrowing my mom's razor, because my coach said it may help the scratches on my legs not get infected. (It did, too.) I don't even think you EVER have to shave your legs if you don't want to.
  • Oh dear I did not know I was supposed to. I was told by my father when to shave my face but he never told me to do my legs. Sa he remiss and should I start now? I have to admit they are rather hairy but I thought that was normal.
  • when i was 10 i was told by my mother that before i started to shave my legs i had to be at least 13 and i had to start menstrating first before i shaved any part of my body. so i would say after she started her monthly flow or after she turned 13.
  • I started at around grade 5 or 6. That was the age when people started noticing all the hair on my legs. Mine was black so it was really noticable.
  • I was 12 when I started, but I really didn't need to until I was 14.
  • I was probably about 12 years old when I started shaving but I didn't have hair on my legs when I was 9. I think it depends on how old someone is when they start to have hair on their legs.
  • I didnt until I was 18 but my sister did since she was 10! But she is really hairy!
  • Depends, I didn't have to shave my legs for awhile because I'm blond and my hair is fine and light colored, doesn't really slow up. If my daughter had dark hair and if it bothered her greatly I would like to think that I would let her shave her legs. But if she doesn't wear skirts or shorts or clothes that bear her legs I wouldn't let her. I think 9 sounds too young but if she does have thick, dark or course hair I would let her.
  • I think i was about 10 or 11, but i waxed..... lasted longer!
  • I started shaving my legs at about 14.
  • i was 11. use to use my brothers. he would get pretty mad
  • I dont shave I use ready wax and also brown silk epil sometimes. i started when I was 13.
  • I never shave I have always got my legs waxed I started at 12 :)
  • I was 12. I was afraid to start trying. I have very sensitive skin. But shaving was easy. Waxing, I would never do. I couldn't take the burn.
  • i started when i was 14 or 15
  • The older generation seems to think that you are ready to shave your legs when you first get your menstrual period, which can be age 12, or 13. With a daughter of my own, and dark hair at that, I am open to her shaving her legs when it becomes really noticeable. She's 8 now, and I am beginning to notice it come in more fuller now. So I am sure by the time she turns 9 or 10, I will give her assistance with an electric razor at first.
  • When someone who assumes I'm bigfoot and starts to order a freezer.
  • i hope never for myself... what a pain in the ass that would be
  • I think the first time I shaved my legs I was around 11
  • I started shavin when i was about 13 or 14. My mum used to tell me i would regret it and wouldnt let me when i first asked at around 11 or 12. So she would wax them first me, it hurt like hell. So i tried hair removal cream and it burnt me and gave me a bad allergic reaction after id used it a couple of times. So i begged my mum to start shaving and to be honest i dont really regret it, i dont have to do it that often.
  • I used an hair remover for the first time when I was 10, but began to feel uncomfortable with that when I was 8 or 9, as I always made comparison with a cousin who is older than me. 9 is not too young, it only depends on how the girl feels with it, but I'm convinced shaving ones legs is not the best way (hair remover/wax are better)
  • i think you can start shaving your legs when you want to i started in fourth grade and i thoughtit was okay my mom said i can start anytime i need to so i guess when ever you want.
