Is it possible to delete your answer to a question? If so how, and is there a time limit to edit/delete it?

No. You can only edit answers. Editing is available at any time. If you wish an answer to be removed, your best bet is to flag it (if the answer isn't yours) or email one of the mods.

OK, thanks. I didn't think you could delete an answer, but someone's post lead me to think maybe you could.

A couple of times I've replaced an answer with the simple text: -- answer withdrawn --

Also, you can put a (.) period in it. I don't know how they know, but they will remove it.

I am afraid you can't, don't worry though. ABStaff will delete it for you. :)
