Why do people on dating sites show a picture of them with a member of the opposite sex?

To appear desirable - I guess they think to attract the opposite sex they need to appear with them.

They probably think that if they're seen with someone cute, more people will find them appealing, think they're a good catch. It probably does have the opposite effect though doesn't it! Either that or they really have no ulterior motive, and they just think they looked nice in that picture! So many times on Facebook i've put up a picture of me and someone I barely know from a night out just because my hair looks just so.. Haha. Vanity! =] =]

Let's see. A few guesses. #1 Pure laziness...they don't have a current picture. #2They are older than the picture that they put up and it's the only one they have when they were still young and had their hair, a trim stomach, etc. LOL. #3They think it makes them look desirable when actually the opposite is true.
