I'm not sure I agree with the Cambridge guy, but whether they were in in it for the money or not, does not change the fact that they wrote great songs (Lennon in particular)... so in the words of one the bands, we should 'Let it be' .... :-)

...what music artist ISN'T in it to make money of the music industry? You think they'd want to make all this great music and be POOR for it? They'd be crazy not to turn their talents into cash. What planet are you from? Just because they did this to make a living doesn't make them any less great or their music any less meaningful.
