If we elect him to be dictator instead of president, yes by all means he will have that power - and more. Easily we blame a president for the laws/bills passed during his administration. Little do we seem to understand that Congress stands in the way in many things and Congress (not the president) brings life to a bill or kills it. Yes the President holds the Veto ability, but frankly a good many bills end up dead on the house or senate floor. Obama as President may be able to push and push and push, and even threaten to use the Veto Power to stomp down other bills to get what he wants. Bush semi-recently did that to make the new democratic congress to give him funding for the war in Iraq. Would Obama use that threat? Unknown. For our sake I hope not. That is a form of abuse of power one that can lead to other abuses. Obama may or most likely would, as president, push congress to pass more bills regulating and fine tuning medical insurance standards. Ultimately it is up to congress if those go through or not.

Thanks for your answer we definately need change and I hope Obama can do that

No, the only way that could happen is if congress decided to fund health care, and make the taxpayers pay for it. Since the taxpayers have made it abundantly clear that they do not want to pay for National Health Care, most people are out of luck. The President can sign bills into policy, or try to influence the law makers to follow his plans, but ultimately it is not up to him.

what does that mean, he can't keep a job? Kidding, I'm kidding. Seriously though, try the supplement DMAE it will help him focus.

that is his plan. whether or not he can actually get it up and going is another thing. I think it's sad that Americans who work themselves to death can't even get adequate medical coverage. I have some medical coverage thru medicare but it doesn't cover dental which ends up costing me 1/2 paycheck for every tooth I get pulled, it doesn't cover certain drugs, etc so I understand sort of what it's like. I just had 2 major surgery..if I hadn't had coverage, it would have costed me $40,000 +. I really do hope it gets passed but there are so many people who are so against helping anyone who may be less fortunate and are throwing such a fit that I don't know if it will happen or not.

What is affordable. In Canada universal healthcare is affordable but you have to wait several mos for a routine MRI and indefinitely for some surgical procedures. While other types of treatment are completely unavailable.
