A whole lot. It was so very Mavericky of him.
-
If it was a drinking game.. I would be dead right now.
-
I've lost count, and it's not over yet. I'm not the only one who find the way he says "my friends" to be really creepy, am I?
-
Hehe. Politicians are always so sincere, what are you suggesting?? I see these candidates from a perspective that I haven't heard much talk about during the campaign... "who seems more aware and present?". I value presence: the ability to stay connected to here-and-now, to be responsive to the situation you're actually in (as opposed to the situation you're imagining or remembering), the ability to SENSE what is going on -- as opposed to being lost in ivory-tower abstractions and philosophical ideals. Life is an interactive process, one cannot tune out the present and still be effective. So by that measure, which candidate just seems more present, more aware, more in touch with the moment? The way McCain presents himself seems calculated, stilted, unnatural. He's in his head more than he's in the room. By contrast, Obama is much more at home in the moment. You don't get the sense that there's a set of gears inside operating his arms and legs. He's more himself. And he doesn't say "My friends..." all the time.
-
He must have been talking to his lobbyist friends.
-
I keep sitting here wondering who he's talking to
-
Before every question he has answered he has started with "my friends", now he is hitting the POW issue I am about to have a nervous breakdown. He is trying to look like an expert in foreign policy but he is stuck with the name of General Petreas which he has repeated about eight times. McCain forgets he is a survivor not an strategist and also forgets that Afghanistan has to be dealt with in a low level guerrilla type war. Oh God......
-
Waaaaaaay too many. And always with a smile. Scares me every time. WHOA - watching debate now and got sidetracked, big time. "What don't you know and how will you learn it". What a GREAT final question!! :)
-
He's like that old President in the 30's or 40's "Friends and I mean my Friends"
-
I quit counting at about 50 or so.. he certainly wasn't talking to me. I am not his friend. He won't do 1 good thing for if he gets elected
-
52 to be exact. He sure had that downpat!
-
Enough to make him a little more creepy and mistrusting.
-
Way too many times!!!
-
Is McCain wanna be gay
-
One time would have been too many. He is a presumptuous old man...he is not my friend. Friend is my favorite word..how dare he assume he can call strangers "friend". Each utterance of that word grated on my nerves..just like "the decider" and his inability to pronounce the word nuclear..he says nucular! :) Happy Wednesday! :) ((hugs))

I counted 31, but reports are saying 21!
-
I don't know but for the first time in my life I wanted to put myself out of my misery.
-
the news today put the number at 22.
-
hi, sweet T, babieeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ... too many times ... it didn't fly with the american audience ... it's reminiscent of the on-the-job compliment sandwich used to gain your loyalty and attention then you get professionally screwed in the end ... LoLz
-
Senator McCain said "my friends" 21 times. Attempts at humor towards Tom Brokaw that failed 3 times. Mentioned General Petraeus 4 times. One time referred to General Petraeus as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. WRONG!!! Admiral Mullen holds that title. Talking down to Senator Obama too many to count.
-
My friend, I don't think my friend said it enough my friend. my friend. My Friend. MY FRIEND. MY FRIEND! *head explodes*
-
Too many. It just highlighted how desperate he was to make some kind of connection with the people. Anyone who over uses that phrase is an inauthentic sycophant. Huge suck up.
