  • Absolutely as a Muslim I condemn actrocities such as terrorism and any criminal acts committed by Muslims. Not only do I feel compassion as a human being for the victims of such criminality, but my religion teaches me to 'stand for justice even against your own self', and that must include standing against fellow Muslims where they breach the bounds of the ethical and just behaviour that our religion expects from us. Now, I know there is a widely held belief that the majority of Muslims are 'silent' in the face of atrocities committed by some Muslims and that this silence signifies some kind of approval, but this belief is based on a false assumption. In fact, Muslims all over the world have been speaking out and demonstrating against terrorism for years, but things like that unfortunately are not widely reported so sadly most non Muslims are unaware of it because they simply never get to hear of it. Here is a link to a partial list of examples of Muslims - individual laypeople, scholars and organisations who have spoken out to condemn terrorism: http://www.muhajabah.com/otherscondemn.php
  • How many Christians do you see denouncing the atrocities (such as terror acts) and immoral acts committed by fellow Christians?
  • In my experience with the issue, most Muslims have no problem at all denouncing violence and/or terror tactics. One problem here is that, for any minority group, there appears to be a standard of collective accountability for actions taken by anybody else in that minority group. My black friends are asked to denounce social dysfunction in the inner cities. My Latino friends are asked to condemn illegal immigration. My Asian friend are asked to condemn actions of Vietnamese gangs in California. I'm a white American Christian. No one ever asked me to denounce Timothy McVeigh for the Oklahoma City bombing. I don't have the slightest difficulty condemning him for that, but I think it's significant that nobody ever asked me to weigh in. Also, if I decided as a private citizen to do that, I'm not sure anyone in the media would pay attention. Which means you'd likely never hear about anything I said.
  • No. I am not willing to do that.
  • Christians: Are you wiling to denounce the atrocities (such as terror acts) and immmoral acts committed by fellow Christians? Why or why not? (Yes, this is a legti question baed upon comments here by a the flock)
