  • The screw connecting the wire to the outlet is probably loose and arcing. It's pretty common. Fix it one of two ways: (1) call an electrician, or (2) shut off the power at the breaker box, remove the outlet from the box, replace the receptacle with a new one, making sure all the screws are nice and snug, then put the power back on and enjoy. .... Personally, if you aren't confortable around electrical repairs, I would choose option 1 for safety reasons.

  • two different outlets could be on the same fuse. electricians like to mix and match fuse lines. maybe the refrigerator is on the same line as the television. maybe the microwave is on the same line as the fish tank. there might be a diagram in your fuse box.
  • Call an electrician pronto and make sure all your smoke detectors are in working order until then. Do not take chances. I've seen a fire wipe out a whole building because of something like this.
  • you need an electrician. I am one. but you should get a real person.. we need to know what the voltage is coming out of those outlets. if the outlet itself were bad only the outlet and cord would get hot. sometimes outlets just get lose and the bad connection will heat up. if the tv is getting hot that sounds like you have a voltage problem which sometimes happens when you have what is called a multi-wire branch circuit. when 2 circuits share a nuetral. if you lose your nuetral it does all kinds of funny things. you can lose your neutral in a few ways. you could have a bad wirenut in one of the boxes holding the nuetrals together. or somtimes if you remove an outlet that was completing the circuit. instead of having 120 volts on each hot you now have something weird like 50 volts on one and 190 volts on the other hot. if some of your lights are dim then this is your problem
  • This may be normal. TV and fish tanks do get hot. I would not worry as long as it is not so hot that it cause you pain when you touch it.
