As a viewer, I've been in both positions. Something stays on the air and I wonder how come --- and something else is cancelled and I wonder how come! But unfortunately, decisions to kill a show aren't based purely on audience likes/dislikes. What's the market share compared to other shows? What advertisers does it have and are they making money or leaving in droves? What are the production costs of the program vs its income? Is it able to survive financially? If it costs too much and is sinking financially - even a well-written or well-acted show can disappear. Which brings up another thing. Are there any other sorts of behind the scenes problems? With cast? Or crew? On and on it goes. Often, you and I have no idea why a show is cancelled. All we know is something we like or dislike "goes away" with the story unfinished! I've got several titles I wish hadn't gone away. Hope that helped ..
