That's so cute. Tell her the pointy shoes are to distract from the pointy ears. ;0)

When a newly born baby elf arrives in the North Pole, Mrs. Claus bathes them in newly fallen snow. Now, they're quite wet so she hangs the baby elf on the clothesline and she puts a clothespin on each ear and they dry beautifully in the warm sun. Once they're dry, Mrs. Claus removes the clothespin and - voila! - they have pointy ears.

In the beginning, when the world was young and all species lived in harmony, Elves' ears were about the size of ours. Everyone and everything in this world could communicate with everyone and everything. Elves especially loved to talk with Nature, the trees, the wind, the water. But it was not their privilege, everyone else could. Yet, one day came when mankind started to think that they should rule over the world, and that every other race or species was inferior to them. They started to throw Nature into submission, taking more from Her than they needed, and forcing Her to produce when it wasn't time. Animals suffered a lot, too, and Elves retired behind their magical barrier. With time, all the voices in the world became hushed, because of human activity, of wars and other noises that were louder, and because less and less people talked and listened to them. Now, most people have forgotten that ability they once had. But to be able to continue to hear Nature's tiny voice, elven ears grew longer and pointier, like antennas; more surface to catch the friendly sounds. This way, Elves can still ease Nature's pain with their soft and comforting words. The shoes are to tie it all together. http://www.elfwood.com/art/y/a/yas1/pointyear.jpg.html
