  • Kodachrome is Kodak's name for it's legendary colour (positive) film that has resolution greater than most modern digital cameras, produces colour that is deep, vibrant, and hard to reproduce. Ask any olde time photographer what is the best film and he will likely shout back "Kodachrome"! (or Agfa) The stuff has been around since the 1930's. Images created with the first rolls of Kodachrome show zero signs of aging and look just as good as the day they were taken, something you cannot say about any other film type, even digital cannot make such claim. Through the last 78 years Kodachrome faced many new challengers most of which have faded away in to obsolesce and none could stack up to the fantastic image quality and high archiveablity that Kodachrome is known for. I pray Kodak keeps it around forever. Our recorded history and legacy will depend upon it. Photography just won't be the same with out it. http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=1095&pq-locale=en_US&_requestid=12661 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kodachrome EDIT: Recording artist Paul Simon is among millions of other fans of the stuff, he even wrote a song about it: Words & music by Paul Simon When I think back On all the crap I learned in high school Its a wonder I can think at all And though my lack of edu---cation Hasn't hurt me none I can read the writing on the wall Kodachrome They give us those nice bright colors They give us the greens of summers Makes you think all the worlds a sunny day, oh yeah I got a Nikon camera I love to take a photograph So mama don't take my Kodachrome away If you took all the girls I knew When I was single And brought them all together for one night I know they'd never match My sweet imagination And everything looks worse in black and white Kodachrome They give us those nice bright colors They give us the greens of summers Makes you think all the worlds a sunny day, oh yeah I got a Nikon camera I love to take a photograph So mama don't take my Kodachrome away http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=93 The pictures in the video were shot in Kodachrome, but digital computer technology kind of waters the images down. Kodachrome is best when viewed live and in person.
  • It's film....maybe Paul Simon was worried because of digital cameras.;-)
  • A film made by Kodak way back in pre-history before everything went digital. Only Mama wants to take it away, but I don't know why.
