I was excited to hear about the one in Rome, Italy. I served my mission in Italy many years ago, so it's exciting to see a temple there finally.

Surprises? I don’t think so. I am *stoked* to see Philly and Rome each getting one, though. Talk about places that really need it…. (Now if they could just add Indianapolis to that list….) ;-) Update: okay, *now* there are some surprises. The Church just announced that the Philadelphia one will be built right in the middle of the city, “at North Broad Street between Hamilton Street and Noble Street.” *That* is cool. Even bigger, though: the “Kansas City–area” temple is going to be in—wait for it—CLAY COUNTY, MISSOURI!!! (For those that don’t know, the Latter-day Saints has a major settlement in Clay County, until the mobocratic government ran them out in 1836. A not-so-subtle irony, methinks.) http://tinyurl.com/5newtemples

There is one being built in my city. Over 1,000,000 people and almost 20,000 members of the church, I'm excited to see it go up!

The Only surprise is that this thing has lasted this long.
