Yes. Truman was the first to propose it. His idea became Medicare. Eisenhower proposed it in 1954 and Nixon proposed HMO's. Yes, lets thank Nixon!!

What a shame. the US is 37th in health care in the industrialized world. Yet we spend twice the money of the first country. Contrary to what is told to us in the USA by insurance companies, UHC could work in the US and the people would be very happy with it. -- Just as the Veteran's Administration does a good job with vets, and Medicare does a good job with oldsters.
