Godet is an old fashioned sewing term for a semi-circle piece of fabric inserted in to a garment - usually skirts. It adds fullness to a narrow skirt. It is shaped like a piece of a pie with the pointed end upward and the wide end flowing downward to add the fullness. The can also be used in sleeves and some jackets. Entire skirts can be made with godets.
