I enjoy Slipknot, Children of Bodem (sp?), Atreyu (not sure if you would consider that heavy metal) and Trivium.

Is As I Lay Dying a heavy metal band? If so I like them a lot. (I get lost in the metal genres...)

-
Mudvayne and mushroomhead
-
Butthole Surfers. I'm not a big fan of super-loud, screaming, intense heavy metal, but their music has just the right balance of straight up Heavy Metal and sardonic Punkish lyrics to hold my interest.
-
Does "metallica's first three albums" qualify as a metal "band" If so.. ROCK ON "metallica's first three albums"
-
TriviuM. They're one of my fave bands(right now, tied for first with my fave, taproot), they're one of the greatest that I've ever heard. They're thrash metal, and I love them. Their songs have such rhythm, it gets me pumped. TriviuM is a brilliant mix of raging guitars, guitar solo's, singing and screaming, its so beautiful!!! Here's a nice little video for you(please listen to it if you've never heard of them or love metal). TriviuM's "Pull Harder on the Strings of your Martyr" The section where he screams "pull, harder, strings, martyr, stop, you cry, that's a lie" is one of my ringtones!!

It's between Judas Priest, Metallica and Iron Maiden. Why? Because the music they have produced is mostly excellent, many of the classic songs by them were the soundtrack of my teens and early twenties, though I still enjoy listening to many of their songs. All three are greatly influential and admired.
