The story is true. The emotion is bullshit. It's been thirty years since his wife passed away. It's a tragic story - I'm not dismissing that at all, very tragic - but is he really choked up about it 30 years later to the point that he almost cries on national TV? I doubt it. If he is that emotional, he would have that reputation and he doesn't. He spoke of his wife in 1988 and I don't remember him crying or choking up.

If I lost someone I cared about...even if it was thirty years ago..I still would get chocked up. Its not like he lost an uncle or a grandfather..he lost the mother of his children...???? If your children lost there mother wouldn't you hope that they would never forget her. I would hope my kids never forget me..:):) Right?

Don't forget he's a career politician. I'm not saying he doesn't forget - hell, who wouldn't. I'm saying the ability to turn on the emotion and turn it off is decisional. He chose to show emotion then. He's too polished not to have that sort of control.

I believe he was sincere...I'm not arguing that. The timing is the only issue I have with it.

I don't know your situation, but I'm sorry for your loss. I'm sure you are a wonderful parent, and keep doing what you are doing. Times can be rough, but your children will appreciate all of your hard work!
