  • Excellent question. Unfortunately I don't have a real answer. Religion is a volatile area that ignites conflict.
  • Religion doesn't belong in government, really. But it's here and it won't go away any time soon. America is seeped in religion, polarized by religion, motivated by religion -- either for or against. So there's no getting that kind of discrimination out of politics, and it has nothing to do with the illegal discrimination hinted at in your question.
  • Because discrimination isn't actually illegal in most circumstances. As to discriminating against candidates -- that is only true of Republican candidates. Barrack Obama claims to be a religious man, and I believe him. This seems to be of no importance to those that claim to be "afraid" of Christians.
