Sometimes you have to do it more than a few times. Those little buggers are great at hiding, and their eggs sometimes don't hatch until much later.

This works, but takes some time….. Take one of those droplight type of lights, suspend it about 6 inches off the floor, place a pie pan right below the light, put about 1 inch of water in the pan. The fleas will jump to the light, fall in the water……This does work, but be careful…. And vacuum a lot.

They sit there as eggs until they feel the heat of an animal, and make a jump for their first taste of blood. They can hide in the dust in the cracks and corners of hard floors and are not simply restricted to carpet. I understand the black cat fleas are allergic to humans so that every one that jumps on your feet in the morning signs its own death warrant, and the numbers will go down. One method of getting rid of them is to place a bedside or anglepoise lamp on the cool floor, over a flat plate covered in double sided sticky tape. The light warms the plate to gentle blood temperature, the fleas jump on, and get stuck. Only do this if its safe to leave the lamp on. Repeat until all gone - its more environmentally friendly, and cheaper, than the fumigator.

You know what worked for me? Vacumming once every day. I dunno if it will work for you, but it seemed to work out for me. =)

I used to sprinkle boric powder through out the house and leave it overnight and then vacuum and throw the bag away. You have to treat again in two weeks as the eggs will hatch. Anything that can't be wash like stuffed animals can be put in the freezer in a plastic garbage bag and they will die in there. More recently I have used a powder sold in the pet section at Wal*Mart called Enforcer flea killer for carpets it comes in a cinnamon smell and one container cost $3.00 and it treats 5 10x10 areas. It worked great I have 3 dogs and no fleas!! I will look for a picture of the product for you, I found one and it is sold at Ace Hardware too. Good luck!! I just went to your profile and see you are in UK hopefully you can find something like it there.

If you have a yard, get that treated for fleas too. If you do that, ensure that the treatment includes an ingredient that prevents the eggs from hatching. While you're in the house and still dealing with the fleas, wear pants with the legs tucked into long white or light-colored socks. That way you can avoid further bites and you can see them if they've hopped on you. Whatever fleas you pick off of yourself can be flushed down the toilet.

I'm not sure how well it works but I have heard that spreading Borax all over, letting it sit then vacuuming gets rid of them. You may have to repeat a few times.

Get flea powder and the flea bomb sprays. Sprinkle the powder all over the surface and leave it for at least 24hours. Vacume it. Then spray the floor from 20cm off the ground. Spray each room one at a time. Spraying all over Make sure you get in the gaps as well.Close the door behind it. Instant results guaranteed. Good luck.
