Yes it is. Consider this. A Harvard University test compared a group who smoked marijuana daily with a group who used it less often. They found little difference on standard mental tests. However, on one test dealing with adaptability, the heavy marijuana users scored much lower. Another university tested a group of regular marijuana smokers and a group of cigarette smokers, over a period of 15 years. The marijuana smokers usually had three or four joints a day, while the cigarette smokers had 20 or more cigarettes a day. Equal numbers from both groups suffered from coughing and bronchitis. Examination of the lungs revealed similar cell damage in both groups. Although the marijuana smokers indulged much less often, it was found that a single joint releases three times as much tar as a cigarette. Furthermore, New Scientist reported: “Marijuana smokers inhale more deeply and hold their breath longer.” In addition, immune cells from the lungs of the marijuana smokers were found to be 35 percent less capable of fighting bacteria than were cells from the cigarette smokers.

There are many medicinal uses for cannabis and research that supports those uses. The THC in cannabis can be digested to obtain it's beneficial uses - it doesn't have to smoked. This site has some good information - you just have to scroll down a bit before the information appears. http://www.csdp.org/kz/mmj.htm

Yes anything that makes you feel good is usually bad for you

Healthy Almost anything that is relatively healthy in moderation could be unhealthy in excess. - Candy is unhealthy, tobacco is really unhealthy, alcohol is very toxic = unhealthy. About 50,000 reported cases of alcohol poisoning occur each year in the United States, and about once a week someone dies from alcohol poisoning! Yet there has never been a marijuana overdose death in history. ¤ The editors of the prestigious Lancet British medical journal: "The smoking of cannabis, even long-term, is not harmful to health. ... It would be reasonable to judge cannabis as less of a threat ... than alcohol or tobacco." While SMOKING it isn't great for you - research has shown THC (favorite "active ingredient") can reduce lung cancer and tumors! Vaporization is an extremely safe and more efficient method of delivery used by many medi-pot users. Eating cannabis while a bit more difficult to dose at first is extremely fun/safe and offers an euphoric long lasting feeling. Cannabinoids in marijuana are proving to be beneficial in many ways: "Recent studies have shown cannabidiol to be as effective as atypical antipsychotics in treating schizophrenia." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabidiol Similar questions: http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/943970 http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/980964

Yes it is, it is a relaxing drug, a "downer" it can lead to depression and numerous other problems. Also it is normally smoked with tobacco which is extreamly dangerous to your health. Cannabis is HEALTHIER than alot of other drugs, but it is still not healthy!
-
yes, prisons can be a bad place to catch a cold or to drop your soap.

Smoking anything is bad for your health!
-
It depends what you describe as dangerous. Smoking Cannabis greatly increases your chances of contracting smoking related health problems. Drinking alcohol greatly increases your chances of bowel cancer and hypertension. Easting red meat greatly increases your chances of bowel cancer. Eating sugary products greatly increases your chances of tooth decay. Getting in a car greatly increases your chances of being in a RTA. Leaving the house greatly increases your chances of being mugged. Going out to a nightclub greatly increases your chances of being assaulted in a fracas. Playing in a rock band greatly increases your chances of tinnitus. Jogging greatly increases your chances of joint problems. We all make our choices and take our chances. :)

Yes cannabis causes not only dangers to your health, it also causes damage to your freedom. Dont believe me? Come to my town, and show me your cannabis, and I will show you my handcuffs as I give you a free ride to jail. I love reading this bullshit from you potheads justifying the benefits of cannabis. I dont care if cannabis can cure cancer bottom line is.......Its ILLEGAL!!!

I searched a long time to find an article for you that was not linked to an agency that is either for or against legalization. Check this article out from Men's Health: http://health.msn.com/menshealth/articlepage.aspx?cp-documentid=100125790 Yes it has its' health risks, but so does breathing now of days. A better question might be if the health risks justify keeping marijuana illegal. Good question.

Look up the effects on the net.Yes both physical and mental. Don't ask a pot smoker as they will say it is nonsense!
-
Dangerous for your health or not, you don't need a "drug" to get a "high".
-
How about trying to have a conversation with a weed smoker of 20plus years? I promise you will see how it has bad affects, from his lifestyle to his speech. I used to smoke alot, i smoked more when I was in the Army, weird huh. It fills your lungs with TAR and it makes you lazy. And that argument that just breathing is bad alone, WOW, you have to breath, you don't have to take in something more toxic, like weed, unless you are dependant on it.
-
yes it may cause lung-deseases
-
That was a question...
-
It would be if inhaled. Introducing any foreign substance besides oxygen into your lungs isn't a natural idea.
-
to OD you would need to smoke your body weight in weed in less than like 30 minutes and around your 50th bowl you would fall asleep

Cannabis itself isnt dangerous for your short term physical health, there have been no reported deaths from cannabis, obviously if you are smoking it you are doing a certain amount of damage to your throat and lungs, and chronic smoking is thought to cause respiratory problems associated with smoke inhalation. This doesn't mean that cannabis is %100 safe, cannabis is a serious drug chronic use can lead to mental health problems or at least mental annoyances, there have been various studies into cannabis and mental health. There tends to be a high chance of depression and anxiety with regular smokers (particularly teenagers) (source- www.bmj.com/cgi/content/full/325/7374/1195#SEC3 ). But as tinkerbell wonderfully articulated, there's far more dangerous things out there than a spliff or a bong, so I think its more of a choice. some people like to get drunk, some people like to trip, some people like to get stoned. "There is nothing wrong with sobriety in moderation." - John Ciardi

I remember years ago hearing that it was one of the few substances which could have teterogenic effects on male gametes (sperm). I have secretly wondered if it may be a reason for the sharp increase in autism and ADD/ ADHD over the last few decades. I'd love to read a study on that.

cannabis is the most safe drug you can put into your body.
-
Smoking much of anything is bad for your health. Studies have been done that show that cannabis can actually help prevent cancer. The negative effects of inhaling smoke might outweigh the good though. Cannabis can cause psychological problems for certain people.
-
Depends on if you're eating it or smoking it. Ever notice that we are the only animals that don't freak out and run for cover when we see/smell smoke?
-
Not at all! unless you have an allergic reaction your fine! of course the process of inhaling smoke is bad for your lungs and can lead to health risks! but the potheads of the world have came up with the perfect solution to avoid such risk! its called a vaporizer! the vaporizer uses heat to steam the tri-cromes or THC crystals of the flower itself and deliver it into the lungs in a harmless way! so if you use a vaporizer then marijuana has no health risks whatsoever!
