Who should Bella Swan choose: a smouldering vampire or a buff teen werewolf or neither?
Neither. Edward is _not_ hot--and he's a borderline stalker!--but Bella is too involved with the vampires to be completely welcome with Jacob and his pack. She should just give up and find herself a real boy.
Edward's only advantage in my opinion is that he can turn Bella into a vampire. At least then they're on equal footing.

No way to know, since nobody actually knows what heaven is looking for. I've been a good friend, helped a fair number of people, and followed most normal social directives, so if heaven is in any way a non-Christian, basically human construction, I would say I'm in.

A lot better off than those who stayed to fight.

What do you call someone who kills Americans in the name of Allah?
Simply misguided. And I agree with the article on the PC thing: extreme political correctness may make Americans, in our privileged positions, feel better about ourselves--but we could be a lot more successful if we didn't give in to international "peer pressure".

Someone once told me that is it easy to die but hard to live; what do you think?
I agree, though I have not died before (obviously). I'm assuming from your username you are religious. I respect the value that most religions put on human life; however, I believe that a lot of it comes from all people's selfish desire to prevent the loss of individuals, since in most cases nobody benefits from suicide or death but the individual.
If that was garbled, I can clarify.

None of them offer anything other than need-based aid. Unless you're practically penniless and managed to get a full scholarship (or filthy rich and can pay full tuition), they don't give you enough. I'm sort of lower-middle class (from a very rural area) and I got about 5% of my tuition covered by scholarship and 15% by subsidized loans.

If you could be a vampire, what type would you choose and why? (Buffy/Angel, Anne Rice, Twilight, etc.)

What if heterosexuality was morally wrong and God was really going against the morals of his God? I mean what if God didn't want us to reproduce? What if he wanted us all to be gay, lesbian, or bisexual? I mean can you really trust a book.................
If God didn't want us to reproduce, he wouldn't have created us in the first place. Personally, (if I were religious, which I'm not) I would believe that God created homosexuality as a form of population control. It is fobidden in the Bible because it was unneeded at the time, since humans were small in number.

Zoroastrianism, the first religion to have a good vs. evil theme, did emerge about 3000 years ago. Most religions before that had a death god or destroyer god, but these still served humankind, since death and endings are part of the natural cycle. No truly evil god/force emerged until the Zoroastrians, who lived in modern-day Iran since c. 1000 BC.

There are many reasons why violinists would choose to play viola. First of all, while competition for violin seats in orchestras of all levels can be super competitive, there is often a shortage of violas. In general, the atmosphere among violists is less cutthroat. In professional orchestras, a violist is more likely to get a job than a violinist of the same level.

Answer to:
What, in your opinion, is the most overrated book/series ever?
The Wheel of Time. I'm usually good at processing fantasy epics, but by the time I got through the 12th book I couldn't keep track of the characters, places, or point of the book, so I came out with no idea of where the story had been going. Maybe the last book will clear some things up.

What are some good sci-fi books you've read?
I have a lot of them: Anne McCafferey's Pern series, Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar series, Anne Bishop's Black Jewels, David Eddings' Belgariad and Malloreon...I think that last one would have to be my all-time favorite.

Usually one day at most, and that just with a bad cold or something. I'm rarely sick enough to miss school; the last time I did that I was in 8th grade and had just entered a new germ pool. Usually after big tests (APs and stuff) I skip school from mental exhaustion.

I have read the entire Wheel of Time series, Fire and Ice series and Sword of Truth series. Is there another series that you would recommend?
David Eddings' Belgariad and Malloreon (2 different series, same characters, Belgariad comes first). Same sort of epic fantasy, and it manages to be deadly serious as well as ridiculously funny (in my opinion). After six or seven times straight through (and it's 10 books long!) I still laugh out loud.
Don't bother with Eddings' other series, though; they aren't...

Which is better overall, Mac or PC?
I have used both (PCs at home and iMacs at school) and Macs are just a pain to use. You have to jump through hoops to get anything done, even just deleting a file. Also, if one of the older Macs (~5 yrs old) freezes, which happens a lot, you have to unplug it to reset it (at least, that's what I was taught to do, if there's an easier way, please tell me). PCs are more user friendly,...

I did not have the Internet in Junior High and High School. How big of a part does the Internet play in school nowadays? Do kids use it for homework and reports and such? Do kids go to the library anymore?
The internet plays a very large part at my school. Many English classes use it for research, trough online databases (most outlaw wikipedia and similar sites). And yes, we still use the library. Many teachers specify a proportion of sources required to be print sources. The internet also plays a large part in daily class activities, with grades and assignments posted online and sometimes handed...

It depends on how much fuss you make. If you let go a really big one and start laughing and joking about it, It would be reasonable for him/her to give you detention for disrupting class. If you are inconspicuous about it, I see no reason why he/she should punish you for a natural bodily function.

Is being gay a sin?
Absolutely not! I'm (as far as I know) straight and was brought up as a Catholic (Though I'm sort of a 'secular humanist' now). As far as I'm concerned, people that say anything about sexual orientation being a sin are bigots and probably have buried themselves in religious ramblings all their lives, losing sight of the real world.

Do you like pep rallies? Why or why not?
I hate pep rallies. We are forced to go, they are terribly loud, all of the activities and displays are lame, all the games are rigged so teh seniors win, and upperclassmen always start up 'Freshmen go home' at the end, as a result of which we are forced to remain past normal dismissal time to endure a scathing lecture about proper behavior at a school assembly.

My 9th grade World history class: It was a little 26yr old woman who didn't teach us a single thing. I was screwed when I got to AP World History the next year. The first person can either be lying or telling the truth, because if she's telling the truth then her statement is true and she's fine, and if she's lying, then she doesn't always tell the truth, and since her statement would not be true in thet case she's still not contradicting herself.

The big orange monster in Star Trek that ate people was silicon-based.

How do you add chord symbols, roman numerals in particular in Finale Workbook. Please tell me you can teach an old dog new tricks and I can learn this software after writing out parts for 42 years!
I'm not sure that this is the only way, but I generally add my roman numerals in using the text function. It's terribly inefficient, and it's much faster for me to pencil the chord progressions in after I print out the music. If there's another way I'd love to know about it. I've been using Workbook for several years and am quite fed up with it.
Answer to:
How fast can a beat beat before a beat is not a beat?
When a beat beats 15 times per second (900 bpm), our ear stops hearing it as a beat and starts hearing it as a tone. anything below that, I think, would still be a beat, albeit a very fast one.

If you were an equation (or some other mathematical function) which one would you be?
Phi, the Golden Ratio (1.61803399...): 1/phi=phi-1. It is found everywhere, in nature, art, and science, and can be found using a variety of math functions. My favorite of these is that the ratio between two consecutive numbers in the Fibonnacci Sequence, as you get into the higher numbers, gets closer and closer to phi.

What are violin strings made of?
There are two parts to a violin string: the core and the winding.
The core can be made of different materials. Steel cores are the cheapest strings (from about $10 for a set), and they tend to be very bright. Synthetic core strings have a deeper and stronger sound, but retain the tuning stability of the metal strings. The most powerful strings have catgut (It's called catgut, but...

Answer to:
What is it that violin players rub onto the bow?
It's rosin, and it provides necessary friction between the bowhair and the strings, and preserves the natural friction of the bow hair. It is made out of tree resin, and it can get ridiculously expensive, up to almost $30 for a small cake (1-1.5 in round, .5 in thick). There are different rosins for different purposes: light rosin is used in summer because of the relatively high humidity,...
Answer to:
How do you put a violin bridge on
Often the best way is to use a bridge jack, if you can find one. It holds the strings up while you insert the bridge. If your bridge fell out, though, you should make sure the soundpost (inside the violin, under the bridge) was not unseated. If the soundpost fell out, you should probably bring the violin into a shop, since it needs to be precicely placed. So don't just try to replace a...

Fingerboard, tailpiece, pegs, and chinrest: usually ebony, but they can also be made of lighter woods like rosewood or boxwood.

Answer to:
Is a violin costing $1000 a bad violin?
I'm assuming you mean a full-sized violin; fractional sizes are cheaper and if you are small enough to need a fractional size you probably wouldn't be asking this.
A $1000 dollar violin is generally a basic student level violin. If that's what you need, then no, it's not a bad violin. As an intermediate student (after playing for about 5 years), my violin outfit (violin...
Answer to:
Homework question:A violin for use in the school orchestra costs about 80. A Stradivarius violin (made in 1644-1737) plays the same notes but costs about 500000. What are the 2 reason you think a professional violinist would prefer to play a Stradivarius?
1. The sound quality on a Stradavarius is not even comparable to a school violin. Good violins have a deep, clear, powerful sound, while school violins tend to sound shallow and tinny. This is not just due to the workmanship; some people think that the climate in Europe when Stradavarius was alive was different than today, and the wood there was of better quality back then. Age also helps a...

Answer to:
Violinists, what is the make of your instrument that you currently play on?
My instrument is German, made in the 1790s. It has no label, just a "JF" written in cursive inside the f-hole and a tiny "AE" branded on the back. It's a bit of a mystery to us and the violin shop we bought it from. As a result, I got it at a low price for the quality.

It is very difficult to play, but extremely satisfying when you get it right. It can also make the widest range of sounds and emotions of any instrument, except perhaps the voice.

How can I learn to play Minesweeper? I've been practicing for about 8 years and I've never won a game yet, even on the beginner level.
I'm assuming you know the rules.
I usually start by clicking the corners and then random boxes around the edges. when I have a good block of clear squares, preferably with lots of corners, I start flagging mines. The easiest way to do this quickly is to learn frequent patterns of mines in relation to the numbered squares; for example, if you have a straight edge of numbered boxes, and...
