This new one was left in a hot house with food inside andstinks real bad.My planes are to take it to the car wash then leave it open tx I wouldn't take it to the carwash, you would risk hurting the rest of it to the point of it not working. I would get some pinesol (sp?) or bleach slightly watered down depending on what kind of food was left in there, and just cleaning it with that. It should steralize it, but as for the smell, I'm not sure, it should help that too though.
