Is atheism running away from the unexplainable?
It's OK to say you don't know. With that being said, I don't know, no one knows. Science is getting closer to understanding where everything came from and it's looking like God is not in the equation.
The thing is, no one knows how the universe started, so we leave it at that. The universe started and beyond that there are many ideas on how the very first life forms evolved (Abiogenesis...

Answer to:
As an Atheist, how do you respond to Christians who say the Old Testament no longer applies ?
I would agree and say neither does the new testament. People tend to believe that the old testament was worse than the new. So they try to justify it somehow and throw it out, like it makes the new testament more lovey dovey. But, one must remember, Hell was introduced in the new, and being tortured forever and ever, simple if you didn't believe in Jesus, that would trump any horrifying act...

Why not? The only place it says anything about it not being moral or acceptable is in the bible, and what ever imperfect human writes up. Prove God exists or is real, that may be a different story. But that will never happen.
People just have to get over the homophobic crap, and let people live their lives. Who really cares anyway.

Definitely, but not all religion. What I have noticed is that the majority of believers just want to do good to others, and have a nice trusting social network. It's been unscientifically estimated by Mormon Studies Scholars that 60-70% of Ex-Mormons become Atheists or Agnostic after leaving the LDS Church. Some later become Theists of some flavor but most do not. Why do you think this is?
I think if they are born into the religion and leave it, they don't know anything else. They are so brainwashed that it is the only True Church, when they find out it is a false religion they can't trust anything anymore. It destroys lives, families, I have seen the damage it does when people leave the church. It is a cult bottom line.

I have a 13 year old brother who's been watching porn and telling his girlfriend that next time he sees her they will have sex. I have done a couple of things to try and avoid him having sex, I think I'm not sucessful. What would you do?
If you feel comfortable, and I don't know your age, he needs to understand what sex is all about. Porn does not paint the whole picture. It gives him the how, but not the when, where, why, and what.

Why do Mormons find it necessary to go door to door recruiting people into their religion?
1. Motive Questioning- When sound evidence against the group is presented, members are taught to question the motivation of the presenter. The verifiable (sound documentation) is ignored because of doubts over the unverifiable (presenter's motives). See Opposer Warnings (#2 above).

1. Deception - Group identity and/or true motives are not revealed. The group leaders tell members to withhold truth from outsiders.
2. Emotional Leverage/Love Bombing - Instant friendship, extreme helpfulness, generosity and acceptance...Group recruiters "lovingly" will not take "no" for an answer-invitations impossible to refuse without feeling guilty and/or ungrateful....

Why, when it comes to Mormons, do priests of other faiths permit themselves to become full of hate?
Because a lot of Mormon doctrine is blasphemous and a lot of what the older prophets have said is, even GB Hinckley said LDS don't believe in the same Jesus! I know out of context. I understand what GB Hinckley was tiring to say but he didn't clarify so, that leaves it open game. But JS and BY flat out were blasphemous.

Unless it's changed over 6 or 7 years and Michigan is not one of the states, when I was a Restaurant manager we needed a reason or we could easily get sued. Plus if the employee has a good case they can collect unemployment and it comes out of the company’s budget. That can really put a damper on Restaurant profits.

"Christians speak often of the blood of Christ and its cleansing power. Much that is believed and taught on this subject, however, is such utter nonsense and so palpably false that to believe it is to lose one's salvation. What must you do as a Latter Day Saint to have the gift of salvation?
I thought I might be the first one to answer this question.

Without the atonement, the gospel, the priesthood, and the sealing power, there would be no salvation. Without continuous revelation, the ministering of...

This is only for LDS members. It is a sincere question. Do you believe that people that have accepted Christ will be in heaven if they are not Mormon? I have heard "yes" but have also heard others say "no" because you have to have the "keys" thru JS.
That was a good answer but I will play devils advocate and say that is why LDS members baptize the dead. They believe that when you baptize your family member they have a choice to accept it. This is how it works, an LDS member will go to the temple just to do baptisms for the dead. LDS family members do research and their genealogy and turn their names into the temple to be baptized. It goes to building the temples, where they do Masonry like rituals there. It’s also spend on their so called scriptures that Joseph Smith wrote. Also it’s spent on fighting the truths of the church, and campaigning against their past history. Trying to justify their past and debate against people that challenge their faith. More reasons it is not part of the bible. If it came from God, you shouldn't have to change it.

No it is a story made up, and not made up well.
Most of the changes in the D&C have been made retroactive. For example, there are several times when the Melchizedek Priesthood is mentioned and used before the time when the Melchizedek Priesthood had even been given (helpful hint: it wasn't given before April 6, 1830).

Answer to:
Why do people think atheists hate anything to do with religion?
I'm a Christian; I believe everyone has a peace of the truth. When people don't research, they just make assumptions, the people you are talking about may just assume that, and maybe some atheists do hate anything to do with religion. It is all about learning about what you are curious about instead of making assumptions. Hope this helps.

Was Joseph Smith a prophet?
While discussing the petition to Congress, I prophesied, by virtue of the holy Priesthood vested in me, and in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, that, if Congress will not hear our petition and grant us protection, they shall be broken up as a government, and God shall damn them, and there shall be nothing left of them — not even a grease spot. Was Joseph Smith a prophet?
If making prophets that don't come true makes him a prophet then yes.
President Smith then stated that the meeting had been called, because God had commanded it; and it was made known to him by vision and by the Holy Spirit. . . . it was the will of God that they should be ordained to the ministry and go forth to prune the vineyard for the last time, for the coming of the Lord, which...

Answer to:
Do Mormons believe all other religions are based on false doctrine?
The LDS Church and their scriptures have been changed so drastically over the 175 years; it's not even the same religion. Book of Commandments in 1833, revised to Doctrine and Covenants, Book of Mormon published in 1830, 35 truthfully I don't know how many times but over 4000 changes. Stuff was deleted because most of JS's prophesies didn't come true. His first vision...

Has anyone reasearched the LDS, Book of Commandments, 1833 now D & C, the Book of Mormon 1830 and now 4000 changes later the Book of Mormon? If you have to change something that much how could it be true? You don't have to answer that because the answer is obvious!
