I've got an upset stomach and diarhhea. I know what I can't eat but what about some junk foods, like chips or cheetos. Everything I'm eating tastes so bad, like dry toast and crackers, am I allowed to eat junk or will I just puke?
The best diet for this type of ailment is called the BRAT diet:
Bananas
Rice
Applesauce
Toast
And, as Cog said, you need to drink water or sports drinks with electolytes (such as Gatorade,) because you are most likely dehydrated. That would make you crave salty junk.

I'm sleepy all the time and I am puzzled as to why? I've been checked for anemia (negative) and I get enough sleep at night. I'm sick of wasting my time in dreamland. Any advice?
I'd recommend finding out if there's any reason to be evaluated for sleep apnea. (Excessive snoring, etc.) In sleep apnea, you actually wake up several times a night, even though you don't know it. It can be helped sometimes with diet, other times you need a machine (CPAP) to help you during sleep, and some people even need surgery to raise the soft palette.

My 7 yr. old son is having a lot of trouble with his reading and spelling in school. He is below grade level in this subject and just can't seem to catch on. His father and I did extremely well in school. Any idea what could be causing this delay?
Have you had him tested for learning disabilities such as dyslexia and sequencing disorders?
There could be absolutely nothing wrong, either. Some children learn differently; auditory vs. verbal learners, etc.
It would be worth a conference with the teacher, and perhaps a request for some special testing.

I have a pain problem due to herniated discs, and have been using vicodin Es 4- 5 times a day. A friend of mine just gave me a 15mg oxycodone to try, should I take the whole thing or split in half?
You shouldn't take it at all. It's important not to take someone else's prescription med.
In this case, it's a different formulation of pain reliever, and your doctor may have had a reason to choose Vicodin instead of Oxycodone. Vicodin is hydrocodone plus acetaminophen. Oxycodone is oxycontin plus acetaminophen.
At the bare minimum, at least check with a pharmacist...

ONE beer or ONE glass of wine is actually encouraged these days to help with the letdown reflex for the milk to flow. Some sources say moderate consumption is even ok.
The keys are timing and moderation. Alcohol takes approximately six hours to clear through the bloodstream and breast milk.

Where did the various experessions using "much" come from - eg "nervous, much?" or "insecure, much?"
I had not heard them before the movie "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective," which came out in '94.

Such expressions must have been around previously, but I have no doubt that that movie launched them into becoming popular vernacular.

Sure! Although, I guess technically, it would be upside down.
It needs to go on so that it feeds OVER instead of under. If it feeds under, it can hit the wall, or your hands hit on the wall and that's less sanitary.

Does anyone else dislike questions that single out members as much as I do? Such as: which member has the best sense of humour? which member is the smartest? which member is the prettiest? I think these invariably leave some some people hurt. You?
I dislike them. People get left out and feelings get hurt. Or, people are singled out, and feelings get hurt.
Either way, those questions do NOTHING to foster a sense of community, which we try to have here at AB.
AB is NOT a popularity contest, nor is it junior high school.
I wish that people would remember that this is supposed to be a question and answer board, NOT a chat board....

Yes, it is a valid reason. He would become legally responsible for your debt upon marriage. That's highly unfair. Not to mention, once your credit is joint, you'd have a hard time getting a mortgage, loans, or any other type of credit card. Again, completely unfair to him.

I assert that answerbag's allowing rejection of questions as "Nonsense" should be done away with permanently, as I have rarely seen this prove beneficial to anyone (nb: I found this policy to be unnecessary, unjust and annoying meddling). Do you agree?
No, I disagree.
In fact, I disagree with how relaxed the standard for nonsense has become. Lots of flagrant CRAP that used to be rejected now makes it through.
I wish Answerbag would go back to at least attempting to be a knowledge base, and thus a helpful resource, rather than just a free-for-all chatboard.

Answer to:
I am catholic and my wife is non-christian. We have decided to get our marriage recognized by the church to appease my mother. I am told that if my wife does not convert to Catholicism, then my future children cannot be baptized. Is that true?
That's not quite true.
Your children CAN be baptized, but the Catholic church will not allow the baptism to be done there.
If you have your child(ren) baptized in, say, a Methodist church, the Catholic church will recognize your children as baptized Christians (though still not as Catholic.)
I hope that helps explain a bit better.

That's going to be involved; you'll need DNA tests to prove or disprove paternity, and you may have additional issues if there is a man paying child support and/or has visitation rights.

I like sarcasm, I like medical dramas, and I like that there are some comedic elements in the House series as well.

No, not at all. I think it's nice that someone acknowledges what was written, and takes time to say thank you. Sometimes people don't want to get involved in long conversations, and frankly, sometimes there's nothing else to say.

I saw her in concert here last year. She was fabulous!!! I was so impressed that she did enough research on our area to do some locally-specific jokes just for us.
She and I have the same birthday, and I was treated to the show by a friend for my birthday, and Bette said/sang Happy Birthday to me.

My biggest pet peeve is when there is incorrect agreement between components of speech.

My boyfriend has been unfaithful once in our year and a half relationship(just kissed a girl when he was drunk) but we have worked it out. Girls still call and text him though....should I be worried?
In my opinion, if he's been unfaithful once, he's been unfaithful one too many times. The texting doesn't matter. If he broke your trust once, chances are that he'll do it again.
I have a ZERO tolerance policy on cheating - that's my deal-breaker. So, I would have already kicked him to the curb.
You have to do some soul-searching and figure out how important...

Do you think the result of the Airborne lawsuit was fair, or do you think it was too much legal intervention?
No, I don't think it's too much legal intervention, nor do I think it unfair.
It is, however, in my opinion, too little legal intervention that is too late.
If herbal supplements were at all regulated, ineffective crap that just cheats (if not endangers!) the public would not hit the market to begin with.

It's 70 degrees and sunny!!! I opened all my windows to air out all the stale winter air!! How do you know spring is coming, and is it coming soon for you?
Ha! It was 66 degrees here in upstate NY today, but it has already dropped more than 30 degrees in the last few hours.
I took a screenshot of one of our local news websites today...I thought the placement of the Winter Storm Warning for tomorrow just to the left of the 64 degree current temperature was a sight to behold. We sure don't see that too often! I've attached it here;...

Can scholarships be used for living costs as well as the tuition? If yes, is this universal or just some scholarships that can be used that way?
It depends upon the type of scholarship(s,) and possibly on the school as well. I got through 4 years with 2 different types of scholarships, and came out with 2 Bachelor's degrees, and a decent bank account. I bought a brand new car and a house within 3 weeks after I graduated from college.

Has anyone ever had bone grafting in their mouth for dental implants what was your experience and was it very expensive?
I haven't, but a friend of mine has. It took several treatments over nearly two years. The results have been wonderful for her.
It was very expensive; she and her husband took out a home equity loan to pay for it. She told me that it cost more than a luxury car.

Whats the name of a kitchen utensil that boils water in like 60 seconds? It's like a plastic pitcher with a heating element inside. I've used one before, and I can't figure out what the "official name" for one is.
The old fashioned name was "hot pot."
Now they're usually called electric tea kettles.
A microwave oven could accomplish that, too, depending on the wattage of the oven and amount of water being heated.

Are men really bigger babies than women when they are sick?
I think it differs from man to man (well, actually, person to person.)
My husband would rather be left alone when he is sick. It took me awhile to get used to that. I wanted to give him soup, fluff the covers and pillows, etc., but he just wanted to be left alone entirely.
I've heard of other men, though, who can be babies about a tiny scrape or bruise. ;-)

What do you think of people that have no friends?
I must be awfully Pollyanna-like...I don't want to think about that there might be people without any friends at all.
But, if someone were truly friendless, I'd not judge him/her. If s/he needed a friend, I would try to be one. If s/he just didn't want to let anyone in, I'd respect that desire.

What are the uses of sound in medicin
Another use I've not seen posted yet is the use of Doppler. (The Doppler effect)
It is useful for determining if there are blood clots by shooting sound through the vessel and listening for the echo. If the sound comes back too slowly, it could indicate a clot forming. If the sound does not come back at all, it could mean there is a clot completely blocking the vessel.

I think it varies according to the talent of the person making the attempt.

British to American: Hugh Laurie is Excellent!
Aussie to American: Rachel Griffiths is Excellent!
In both cases, I was shocked to hear their true accents in interviews.
American to British: Meryl Streep does a great job.
American to British: Madonna doesn't cut it.

Yes, I'm interested in the situation, and in learning about how the "naturally born" citizenship will be determined.
My best guess is that such a determination would depend on the actual legal status of the Panama Canal zone at the time of his birth. For example, I believe that if he were born in a US Territory or Protectorate such as Guam or American Samoa, that counts as a...
