How relevant is a politician's religious beliefs to the job he or she does?
If the candidate can keep his/her personal beliefs out of public policy, their religious belief is moot. I suspect a politician's faith is only problematic if it is "different" from one's own, and you doubt their ability to keep their faith out of public policy, or you want them to embrace the tenets of your faith as law.

Protesting, handing out papers and shouting angrily are the hall marks of an American city. Do you stuff your Turkey with stuffing?
No. Stuffing adds mass, increases cooking time, and causes the bird to be dry. I prepare stuffing and actually bake it before serving, but not in the bird.
I also heard that it results in bacteria transfer, and even if you cook the stuffing in the bird you should remove it after cooking. Too much trouble.
Answer to:
Atheist people, why do you hate on people that do believe in a higher power such as God?
I don't. I am annoyed when people push their religion on me, when they try to attribute everything to their religion, and when they try to have the laws of the land changed to reflect their religion. In this country we have the freedom to practice religion as we choose, and included in that is the right to practice no religion.

Unlikely. Though I don't doubt the woman in question has ambitions for something bigger, I see this as a lagging effort. The wave has passed and is petering out. OK, entering a dark store in the middle of the night is kinda creepy to begin with. I jumped two feet when the thing went off. My revenge: before I left I relocated it to the inside of their walk in fridge.... It went off when the door was open, and the light...

Why do people assume if you read the Bible or that if you are Christian, that you cannot think for yourself? (Please read my answer below for more about this question)
Maybe because so many vocal bible reading Christians cannot think for themselves. If they read the bible, they took nothing from it, and instead regurgitate the same old same old that we've all heard from the Religious right for decades..... Heaven forbid you ask them a legitimate question about their faith.... If they cannot answer with a biblical quote, they can't answer.

I haven't sewn in years and am having problems with too much thread coming out of the bobbin. One side of my stitching is nothing but a large clump of thread. How do I correct this? I have no manual on my machine to refer too. Help!
Is the clump on the top or the bottom? If it's on the bottom ( as I'd suspect) the problem might be that you haven't threaded the machine correctly, or that the TOP tension needs to be adjusted. Also make sure you are using a thread designed for a machine, not a specialty thread.
Answer to:
I have a brand new sewing machine and I'm just learning. Whenever I start to sewing, the fabric has to already be under the needle or I get birdnesting underneath. In other words I can never start at the very edge of the fabric. What am I doing wrong?
You need the fabric to between the foot and the dogs. For this you need the dogs to be as far forward as possible, so the needle must be in it's lowest position. If this doesn't solve the problem, you can always flip the fabric and resew to the edge, or use the reverse feature on your machine.
Answer to:
I bought a used Activa 145 Bernina 8 years old. The thread on the top is great but the stitch on the bottom is a straight line, doesn't meet the top thread where it should. Tension, should I mess with it? What should I do? Thanks, Elaine
Agreeing with others: Be sure you have it threaded correctly. If that doesn't stop the problem, using scraps, gradually adjust the top tension. The bottom tension is a screw and rarely (if ever) needs to be adjusted.
Also, just for kicks, try using a different thread. My machine hates a particular brand of thread... don't know why.

It might have something to do with the fact that some true believers are rude, opinionated, obnoxious and irritating. Add to this they can be smug, self righteous and confrontational.... Marriage is a man made institution. In the Biblical times you had a partner, not a spouse. Is this true or not? And if this is written in the Bible, where in the Bible is it? Old or New Testament, book and verses.
I would venture to say that "marriage" was a necessity of the species. By walking upright, we free up our hands for tools, and give a better point of view, but prohibits the females from carrying babies on their back the way other primates do. The human's large brain is also a mixed blessing... a child can not fully "mature" in eutero because the head wouldn't...

A spouse cannot be forced to testify. If they could possibly say anything harmful, there is NO way their spouse's council would allow him/her to testify. If the spouse does testify, they can be held as a hostile witness and be required to answer all questions with Yes or No answers. Because people don't want answers, they want to be able to state their opinion and have everyone agree with them? Slapping a question mark on the end of a statement doesn't make it a question?

Sorry, but the Christmas tree is a druidic ritual usurped by Christians, along with the date of christmas (the solstice) and any other number of holiday traditions... Basically it was an short hand way of converting pagans to their faith. Take all the bells and whistles associated with pagan holidays and change their names.... and huzzah! Christmas.

Thursday 22 Oct 2009, the government will be deciding on neutrality and regulation of the internet. This could mean regulation of speach, serfing, communication.
How concerned are you?
OK: I think you need to do some homework. Net Neutrality has nothing to do with free speech, surfing or communication. It has to do with how your ISP handles data, content etc. from it's competitors.
Example: Comcast is a video/media company and downloading a movie/TV show etc online is in direct competition with them, so they have taken to intentionally slowing down the transfer speed...

Why does the Department of Justice reject Georgia’s system of using Social Security numbers and driver’s licenses to check whether voters are citizens? Since it's the DOJ, shouldn't they be making sure people follow the law and be citizens?
I doubt the DOJ is rejecting the goal, but using the SS number for this purpose is illegal. The SS number is not intended to be used as a form of ID and one is not legally provided to show it to anyone other than the government and an employer (solely for Tax purposes).

My cat is 2 years old. He is a neutered male and all of sudden his is peeing in strange places. Primarily my bathroom rug. He does not seem sick, and does occasionally urinate in the litter box. Is he stressed? We have a 1 year old puppy that chases him.
It is very likely he has crystals in his urinary tract. Some cats get them because of additives in cheaper food. The crystals form and it becomes painful for him to pass urine. He associated the pain with the box, and thus avoids the box (trying to avoid the pain). Bring him to the vet. They can tell if this is the problem, and will be able to help him pass the crystals...

But on occasion I have been known to go out to a nice restaurant, order something nice for myself, and as I finish, I will stand up and address the room, thanking everyone for coming out, and how lucky I feel having friends like them, and how, despite the bad things that have happened in the past year, I know I can continue as long as I have friends like them. As few if any kids work on farms now, there is no reason to keep the established schedule, as it doesn't help anyone, and might actually hold kids back, as the first part of a given year is spent catching up on what they...

Is it Socialism if it costs you nothing for the Police, Firemen, or Ambulance to come help you in your time of need? If so, should there be some kind of fee for their services to maintain Capitalism in this country?
At the turn of the century (1900's), the fire departments were not free. Home owners/property owners paid the local fire departments a fee, and they were given a "badge" that they displayed over their front doors, indicating that they had paid (in advance) for the fire departments services, and in larger cities, indicating which of the many departments they had paid.

Why is it that whenever I say god isn't real, I get downrated? Do they think that they're "punishing" me for not believing in god? I don't downrate people for believing in god, I can actually respect that decision. Isn't that kind of silly?
Well, if you're saying "God isn't real" you are making a statement. You're supposed to be asking questions.

My understanding is that while in the armed forces, your body is considered the property of the US. Getting a sunburn is considered damaging government property (this from a friend who served ion the Navy). Having said that, there is Nothing about tobacco that is necessary, and it has been proven to cause illness and death in people who use it. That would constitute destroying government...

Do you tip at a buffet?
Yes. Servers, and indeed anyone who is in a "tipped" position gets paid "sub minimum wages"... less than minimum because it is assumed that the tips thy receive will make up the difference. Beyond that, they are taxed on a percentage of sales. IF you do not tip, they get screwed by you, then screwed by the government.

I have a 2000 blazer and someone had the catalitic converter removed, now i have the "service engine soon" light on and the code is about the catalitic converter, how can i bypass it so the light will go out?

Do you think uniforms at school help at all?
Not at all. I went to a Catholic school.. Uniforms so everyone looked the same... Right. If you didn't have the right shoes, the right coat, the right sweater... left to our own we would have been fine, but the uniforms gave us a reason to be jerks.

News item: Nike pays $38M to UNC to cover all their sports teams and coaches. So I'm assuming that their "swoosh" will be all over the uniforms - what about the marketing, economics and business classes?
Marketing, economics and business classes rarely get airtime on national television. But rather that covering the sports teams and coaches, wouldn't swooshing their Uniforms make more sense?

Because they think every gay man will want to have sex with them. As I have told my straight friends: I'm Gay, not blind. If Women can resist your "obvious charms" it's very likely that gay men can as well.
