My laptop makes a thumping sound. When I put it on mute, the sound stops, but when I take it off mute, the thumping resumes. Is it the internal speakers or a sound card problem? It's an Asus X51 reseries laptop. What can I do?

Try Muting your microphone in the volume settings - I had a similar problem with my NEC Versa - Yes, think of Hiro Nakamura for a second...now stop, back to the tech - that seemed to help.

I can't see well enough to make them out when I'm wearing glassess instead of contacts - however, I don't wear glasses in the shower, I just make sure I put them in the right places when I have my glasses on, and therefore, I know which one I'm grabbing.
