Instructions

Improper USB Cable Connection

  • Step 1:
One of the first troubleshooting steps for any computer issue should be to ensure that all cables involved are properly and securely plugged in.

Mechanical Malfunctions

  • Step 1:
If you can, try the mouse on another computer system. If the issue persists, odds are there is a physical defect in the mouse and it needs to be repaired or replaced.

Lack of Power for USB Hub

  • Step 1:
If your mouse has been connected to your computer via a powered USB hub, ensure that the powered USB hub is receiving power.

Improper Drivers

  • Step 1:
Verify that you have the most up-to-date driver via the manufacturer's website. Driver updates are released to address many issues experienced by users.

Malware

  • Step 1:
Viruses and other malicious software, often collectively referred to as malware, can cause many hardware malfunctions, and could be the source of mouse and other computer input device malfunctions. Scanning for and removing these harmful pieces of software via anti-viral programs, such as AVG free can not only remedy the issue, but also prevent future computer issues.
