You're reading How much does one gallon of fresh water weigh?

Nah - I had to pick up a few 5-gallon jugs of water last night and had no idea of the weight. I was pretty sure each one weighed approximately 400 pounds <grin> and wanted confirmation.

I think you got it, in bucket loads! Knowing the weight never makes it better. My husband and I just dug and filled the foundation for our deck and porch and I was curious how much weight we had carried, mixed, added water to with all the cement. We used 45 lbs of concrete mix. At 80 lbs a bag! I DID NOT want to know that. Add in the water to mix and if I had known that beforehand, I'd have quit! LOL!!! But he's too cute to flake out on :-)
