Why can a mother be charged with child abandonment but not the father?

    They both can be. But only if they leave a child in an unsafe place or don't tell the other parent where they're at. My ex tried to get me for this till they pointed out I left the child with him, he knew where I was, I wanted to come home, I wanted to see my child, and he changed the locks and wouldn't come get from my mom's house.
