Mosquitoes are attracted to scents. Hair spray, cologne, or even just body odors (not necessarily bad ones). I have also heard that mosquitoes do not like certain blood types, and that RH negative blood types do not get biten as often.

I have RH negative blood, and I rarely get bitten by any insects.

    • And I have RH positive blood, and I'm sometimes the only person in a room that gets bitten... I've also heard sweet blood attracts mosquitoes i.e. folks with a sweet tooth are more likely to be bitten -- I'll vouch for that theory too.

    • I'm RH neg too, and I can count on one hand the number of times I've ever been bitten. I thought this was down to living in England though, but come to think of it, my family get bitten and they're all postive. Interesting!

    • I am RH negative and ALWAYS get bitten. For instance we were outside earlier for about an hour, I was the only one wearing bug spray and was the only one who got bitten. And when I came in I found 15 bites!

    • so much for the RH Negative theory! Thanx for clearing that up... I thought I was a victim of my blood type for all this time... must be the sweet tooth!
