If you are talking about the Crush video, I know the fan that gave him that necklace and it was a compass with 4 fixed points which I think were faith, family, friends and knowledge. That type of necklace symbolizes that if someone loses their spiritual way, the compass will guide them.

Sounds like a Liahona; a compass for finding your way in the wilderness, or on a ship sailing the vast ocean. It is a special compass that leads to a promised land.
This was described in the Book Of Mormon but it is also common even to this day for certain Bedouin tribes to have similar devices.
Since the Book Of Mormon points to Christ because it is a second witness of Christ, I can see why out of all the gifts and trinkets David Archuleta received, this is the one he liked so much he even wore it when he made a music video.
Coincidentally, I have a niece named Liahona, and we always joke that she is always pointing to the truth. This inside family joke is more than a little true, because Liahona is always being a good example(most of the time, anyway).
Thanks for writing. I think I will click on some David Archuleta YouTube songs while I get something to eat.
The only thing I don't like about David Archuleta is that he does not sing enough songs. I have pretty much gone through all his YouTube videos, even a lot of his live performance videos in the Philippines and so forth. If that is the worse thing you can say about someone is that they need to record more songs, that is not too bad. Not too bad at all. Plus I will never be satisfied, so there is really nothing David could do as far as that goes.
It certainly seems like something is guiding him in a good way as he makes his way through life. He seems very much guided by kindness, and compassion. For one so young that is impressive.
In a sense you might say that David Archuleta is himself a compass. If we follow him, he will guide us to a better and happier way of life in a promised land somewhere over the rainbow.
Everything he does points to Christ; even the trinket he has around his neck. So he is following in the Saviors footsteps, as he sings. This is true even for his pop songs not just his Christmas type songs.
There are a lot of not so great people in show business that are talented and famous but they are also wicked and mean. Not so with David. It is good to see some one like him that believes in the old fashioned virtues.
Honestly, I am not sure who I like more. David or Brandon Flowers of the rock group The Killers. They are both class acts, and they are both very talented.
Good luck. And God bless.
