Of course public schools teach Scripture, like Missouri's public schools.

    Or Georgia's public schools.

Or Texas, Mississippi, and Pennsylvania public schools.

They teach Scripture because a Christian majority thinks that "freedom of religion" in the First Amendment actually reads "freedom to choose a flavor of Christianity".

    • As an atheist living in Missouri, I know of no public school, except for the possibility of a few parochial schools, where scripture is a normal part of it's curriculum. I can't be sure it won't pass, but I don't really see this bill passing as it has been written. And, even if it does pass, it's not likely to have too much of an impact because the language within the bill mostly allows educators the ability to include such religious text if it has direct relevance to the discussion at hand. Missouri educators are fairly adamant about not pissing off anyone who might affect their already-limited funding.
