In music how is style determined?

    I don't think style's determined as much as developed. Musicians get a feel for music as their ability and understanding of it develops; they acquire a taste for various genres just as listeners do. It is the genre that they feel most drawn to that they usually end up trying to create within, however if you were to ask a musician almost without question they would ask you whether the genre was important; music is music. Style, however, is key to an individual sound.
