Question

Help answer this question below.

When I turned on my stove to make coffee this morning it made a loud hissing sound and the flames from the burner were 12 to 16 inches high.
What is happening here? I can turn it down and make coffee but this is weird. It is still acting up.

Hissing was likely gas. Sounds like something's screwed up - Kind of like when a lighter goes all "crack ligher" on you. I wouldn't mess with it anymore and get someone to fix it before it gets stuck like that one time. Of course if you smell gas when it ain't on, get out and call emergency gas people.

    • Thanks. It did that every time I turned it on this morning and now tonight it is acting normal. I called a stove guy and he said because of the cold and snow last night the regulator valve may have frozen.
It's working again now so maybe he was right. +4

    • Well good. I just go with the old plug-in coffee maker; I guess making over the stove may be better for a cup though. Cold and snow - that's got to get old.
