Will one prescription of antibiotics take care of two separate infections in your body or just one?

    That would depend on what the particular antibiotic is and what the particular bacteria are. If you have two gram negative bacteria and the antibiotic is for gram negative or two gram positive bacteria and an antibiotic for gram positive bacteria, it will take care of both. However, if you have one gram negative and one gram positive, it won't take care of both.

    • It is a difference in the cell wall of the bacteria. One type of antibiotic is for bacteria with one type of cell wall and the other for the other type of cell wall. But when you take an antibiotic, it kills every bacteria in your body with that type of cell wall, including the beneficial bacteria in your gut. That is why you often get an upset tummy with antibiotics.
