Why should the gov't get a single damn cent on it?

    • Why not,we do live in a free society, roads need paving, bridges need repairs, law enforcement needs paid, all those freedoms we take for granted, someone has to pay for them,I am willing to put in my ten cents worth each week.

    • It may not be directly linked to the two you suggest, but it's intimately related to health and health care. It could go to paying for that.
The government should stop subsidizing the sugar industry, too.

Actually, I think all modified sugars should be heavily taxed.

    • Do you audit tax allocations? Do you realize what a sht job the gov't does with our cash! We'd be better off privatizing certain industry rather than letting gov't use it as an excuse to empty our wallets.
You are damn right I'm from the US, and more American than you'll ever be if you think our freedoms are some sort of "gift" from the gov't that we should pay them for - it has been paid for by the blood of dissentors and patriots.

    • If a person was so hard up that they could not afford the extra tax they have no business buying it. If they were wise, they'd spend their money on real food rather than empty calories.

If your are implying that Republicans could handle money so much better than Democrats, you haven't been paying attention. We've been fighting two wars off budget. That's how they handle it. They don't complain until someone else has control.
Which is better, tax and spend, or borrow and spend?

If you are happy with 1% of the people controlling more money than the lower 95%, go ahead and complain about Democrats.
